Dutchess County SPCA (DCSPCA) presents a series of in-person workshops as part of the organization’s Transitions program, which supports people as they care for their beloved companion animals through their pets’ end-of-life transitions.
The first workshop “End of Life Considerations,” is part of a quarterly series that will deal with different subject matter from both emotional and practical perspectives, and will be held on Friday, June 21, at DCSPCA in Hyde Park, NY.
Topics in the area of mental health will include: anticipatory grief, kids’ grief, and stages of grief. Practical topics will include: physical aging, terminal diagnoses, and palliative care.
The workshop will be led by Alison Irving Appleby and Alberta Crum, DMV.
Alison Irving Appleby is a Social Worker, Pet Loss Grief Specialist, and lifelong animal lover. She combines clinical experience with hands-on learning through rescue work and direct animal care to support, guide, and validate end-of-life and post-transition grief in bereaved pet stewards.
Alberta Crum, DMV is a well-known and greatly respected veterinarian in the Dutchess County Community.
Alison Irving Appleby will also be leading a pet loss support group at DCSPCA on a bi-monthly basis beginning on July 27th at 10:30am.
The first in DCSPCA’s “End of Life Considerations” series of workshops will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 5:15pm, at Dutchess County SPCA, located at 634 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY.
