Introduction to Drawing: The Mythology of Water with Carrie Finnigan
Classes are held on Thursdays, April 17th, 24th, and May 1st from 6:00-8:00pm
Enjoy a creative distraction from all of your worries. Learn about the mythology of three cultures and how they view the importance of water for their very creation. The three cultures are:
1. Nordic: Water as Creation: Ymir the creator of giants
2. Celtic: Water as Creation: Boann (Bóinn) goddess of the River Boyne
3. Ojibwe: Water as Creation - Waynaboozhoo and the Great Flood
This series focuses on the mythological and visual interpretation of water, illustrating similarities of deities and other spiritual icons across multiple cultural traditions, all while enhancing your artistic skills.
The formal concept of art and design that you will learn in this class is Line Movement. The movement function of a line refers to guiding the viewer’s eyes in the desired direction, as well as showing the movement of a subject. It’s often done through varying line’s width, direction, or using implied lines
