A performing arts workshop for LGBTQIA+ people to explore drag in a safe and secure place. All experience levels and ages are welcome.
About this Event

Join us for a free-to-attend LGBTQIA+ arts and heritage workshop.

This workshop is the first in a four-part series preparing LGBTQIA+ people to get on the drag stage with confidence. This course has been designed for all experience levels from beginner to pro.

Facilitator - Bard The Beholder (he/they) is London’s masked extraterrestrial drag creature conjuring worlds within words. Using eco-conscious costuming, stand-up comedy, and movement, Bard engages themes of migration, history and horror to explore their lived experience as a South-East Asian transmasculine person.

This workshop is an opportunity for you to learn more about their practice, queer community & create drag characters and performances!

The schedule for the 4-part course is:

Workshop 1 - Introduction to Drag on 14th July 2024

Workshop 2 - Decolonising Drag on 11th August 2024

Workshop 3 - Creating a Character on 8th September 2024

Workshop 4 - Creating a Performance 13th October 2024

Drag is an art form intertwined with a rich and diverse LGBTQIA+ history. In this series of workshops focusing on drag performance, attendees will learn this inspiring history, explore new skills, and express their identities in a safe space and supportive environment.

This event is completely free to attend and includes all of the resources and knowledge! There is an optional donation to support Blossom LGBT CIC's work in providing social spaces, mentoring & life skill classes to LGBTQIA+ young adults. If you do choose to donate EventBrite automatically adds a small processing fee - We're sorry about this.

Accessibility - The venue consists of one main room with a step-down and permanent ramp to the bar and disabled toilets. The venue is accessible by a permanent ramp at the main entrance.

The venue has an accessible toilet, which uses a RADAR lock, if you do not have a key the security team can help to open it.
