This short and informative workshop will give you the basics to get you started cutting your own firewood with confidence, leading to a more self-sufficient existence.This is a workshop for women, taught by Melissa, a woman with over 18 years of chainsaw cutting experience, in the basic usage and safety procedures to use a chainsaw for cutting firewood. We’ll cover general safety rules around the tool, safety gear, types of chainsaws, basic mechanics and maintenance, preparation, proper stance, body strength, and saw handling.
The first half of the class will cover all safety procedures, getting familiar with the saw, and basic maintenance. The second half of the class will focus on proper handling, starting, and operating of the machine. We will take our time and end class with everyone getting as many reps as possible cutting logs on a saw buck.
