About this Event
This fun and informative presentation for beginning signers ages 13+ will explain how American Sign Language got its start. The ASL alphabet will be taught and those attending will learn to spell their names in ASL. They will learn some counting numbers, colors, animals and simple sentences.
There will be information on how to continue learning ASL.
<h4>About the Instructor</h4>
Manuel Martin is the program director for the American Sign Language Academy in Cranston, RI. He has been teaching classes of all ages, from pre-school to 92, for 26 years. Currently, he teaches at several universities in addition to the Academy. He travels frequently to Viet Nam to work with Deaf communities there.
He uses humor and wit to keep the audience engaged. The audience will be amazed at what they learn in a short time.
