This 6-week course introduces students to the fundamentals of wheel throwing. Guided by instructor Adam Haney, students will learn essential techniques such as centering, pulling, and shaping clay on the wheel. Each weekly three-hour session will provide hands-on practice and personalized guidance to help students create functional and decorative pots! This class is perfect for beginners looking to build a solid foundation in wheel throwing!
Instructor Bio:
Adam Haney, a native of the Coastal Bend, discovered his passion for the arts in 2012 when he enrolled in a ceramics elective at Del Mar College. In 2016, he became involved with the clay studio at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. After years of volunteering and honing his craft, he was invited to become a wheel instructor in 2020.
Inspired by the profound satisfaction he found in teaching ceramics, Adam pursued further education and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 2023. He is the co-owner and operator of A&N Ceramics, a local business specializing in functional pottery. Additionally, he has had the privilege of working and volunteering with many of the area’s prominent art establishments.
Adam's teaching style is meticulous and detail-oriented, tailored to each student’s unique needs and comfort level. His classes are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, creating an environment where students can not only deepen their understanding of clay but also build meaningful connections.
