Join local artist and teacher in this intro to silversmithing class and learn the skills and tools required to design and make your very own sterling silver ring.During this 6 hour workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience learning techniques such as sawing, soldering, filing texturing and polishing and go home with a bespoke handmade ring.
This intro to silversmithing is a perfect beginner class and no previous experience necessary.
You will learn:
The most essential bench tools you need to begin making jewellery
How to use templates and/or make them
Cutting metals
Methods of adding texture and details
Basic construction skills
Soldering your joins
Finishing like a pro
Time allowing, I will give you a run-down on simple tool maintenance
What’s included:
6 hours of professional tuition by local artist and silversmith
All the metals you’ll need to make your earrings

Info on where to get supplies
Some take home notes
Tea, coffee and light refreshments (gluten free & vegan)
Extra metal will be available to purchase
Foam earplugs
You will need to bring/supply:
Your notebook/journal for sketching out your ideas and notes for future reference.
Please note, this is a loud workshop as you will be hammering and forging metal. Foam earplugs are provided however you are welcome to bring your own ear protection.
