Instructor - Liv Cappello
Liv (she/her) is a local artist based in Cambridge. She loves screen and linocut printing and runs a small business called Long Trail Studio that specializes in both. She's super excited to teach at Artisan's Asylum and spread her love of printmaking with others!Class Description
This is an introductory course for anyone interested in screen printing -- any skill level is welcome, but no prior knowledge or experience is required.
In this class, you'll get to burn a screen with your own design, print your single-color designs onto paper, and learn about the ins and outs of basic screen printing.
*If students bring their own screen they will take home their screen with their design so they can continue to print at home.
This class includes tool testing on the light-box, wash-out booth, and power washer.Material Fee
The materials fee for this class is $15. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in cash or through Venmo.Class Goals
- Be introduced to the process of screen printing
- Gain knowledge of how to use tools in the shop
- Learn how to burn a screen, pull ink, and best practices for each step of screen printing.
Emulsion, ink, screens (you're welcome to bring your own, but not required), squeegees, paper to print onStudents Should Bring
Students must send their screen design to the instructor 4 days prior to the class.
If the student wants to take their design home afterward they should bring their own screen.
An enthusiasm for screen printing!Prerequisites
Students must be 12 years old or older. Students under 18 must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.Class Policies
