Beginner Rock Climbing: Flash Em Series

What to Expect:
We will spend an evening top-roping with UD buddies at the gym! You will first take a professionally guided class offered through the gym, teaching you all the proper knots and belaying techniques. Once you're done with the class, Brian will point you in the right direction to get started with rope climbing! If you already know how to belay and tie-in, you can skip the class and just start climbing.
What is top-rope? Top roping is a type of rock climbing in which the climber is safely connected to a climbing rope threaded through a fixed anchor at the top of the climbing route. The rope extends downward to the belayer, stationed at the climb's base. In the event of a fall, the climber remains suspended from the rope at the point of descent, allowing them to continue the ascent or be gradually lowered by the belayer to the climb's starting point in a controlled manner.
Climb at your own pace. We can rest, chat, hang out, climb, and cheer on our friends! We can stay for several hours, and then go to local eatery for some refreshments once we get tired ;)
Sign up early and save some money. We want to share this sport with as many people as possible, so we're doing this event as cheap as possible for you!

What is the "Flash Em Series?"
Over the next few months, join us as we expand our vertical pursuits. We're going to explore the world of rock climbing. Have you ever wondered how people can cling to the wall like Spiderman? Have you ever want to try it? C'mon out and join us in this adventurous rock climbing series of events. You will learn the basic skills needed to start rope climbing: how to secure your harness, tie a figure 8 follow through knot, and complete your safety checks. You will also learn how to belay, catch a fall, and lower your climber back to the ground safely. Throughout the series, we'll build our skills and encourage each other to reach new heights.
