About this Event
Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 2.0 general Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits by attending this program either online or in-person. All attorneys must take one new pro bono CAP case to receive CLE credit. Select a case at www.lacsnprobono.org.
In Nevada, children are parties to an abuse/neglect case brought by a child welfare agency; under Nevada law, those children have a right to be represented by an attorney. This class is an introduction to effectively representing children in foster care. Attendees will learn how to establish an attorney/client relationship with clients of all ages. The class will also provide an overview of the child welfare system and the life of an abuse/neglect case. Lastly, the class will touch upon common issues, including sibling connections, mental health, and delayed permanency.
This program will be presented by attorneys from the Children's Attorneys Project (CAP) in-person to a limited number of people at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and will be available online via RingCentral as well. Pro bono attorneys can earn Starbucks gift cards for referring other attorneys to this CLE.
