About this Event
The Pro Bono Projects presents a free CLE course: Introduction to the Children's Attorney Project
In this course, attorneys will learn how to effectively represent children in foster care. In Nevada, children are parties to an abuse/neglect case brought by a child welfare agency. Under Nevada law, those children have a right to be represented by an attorney. Attorneys from the Children's Attorneys Project (CAP) will teach attendees how to establish an attorney/client relationship with clients of all ages. The class will also provide an overview of the child welfare system and the life of an abuse/neglect case. Lastly, the class will touch upon common issues, including sibling connections, mental health, and delayed permanency.
This CLE course will be will be available in-person and online via Google Meet. Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 2.0 general CLE credits by attending this program either online or in-person. All attorneys must take one new pro bono CAP case to receive CLE credit. Select a case at www.lacsn.org/cases.
