Intro to QiGong

Reduce stress and boost energy! QiGong combines the benefits of exercise, stretching, and meditation in one practice.
QiGong is an ancient (4,000+ years old!) Chinese mindful movement practice for maintaining health and increasing vitality. The word QiGong is made up of two Chinese words. Qi (chee) the life force energy that flows through all things and Gong (gung) skill that is cultivated through practice.
Unlike many fitness classes that focus on tensing the muscles, in QiGong, the focus is on relaxing into slow flowing movements. This gentle, low impact exercise is easy on the joints and can be enjoyed by anyone at any level of fitness. The class is done standing and no equipment or props are necessary.
During practice, we will focus on feeling our “qi” as we move through a series of stretches, flows, and postures to build, direct, circulate, balance, and store energy in our bodies.
Benefits of practicing QiGong include reducing stress, building stamina, increasing vitality, and boosting the immune system. It can also improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions.
