Paper quilling is the art of twisting and twirling paper strips to create intricate shapes. It’s a versatile papercraft skill that can be used for card making, décor, scrapbooking, jewelry, and many multimedia visual arts. This class will be an introduction to the basics of paper quilling, with a specific focus on card making. We will start by briefly talking about the history of the craft, its place in modern day artwork, and easy ways that it can be used in everyday life. We will then move on to learning about the tools and techniques used to roll paper into basic shapes and turn those shapes into part of a larger design.
Students will work alongside the instructor to practice these techniques and will then come up with their own card design to create. By the end of the class, every student should have made progress on or completed a card design. The materials included for each student will be good for many projects to come!
