Dance and movement are for everyBody! Nia opens the door to feeling better in your body and soul.
Nia is a joyful, holistic movement practice that blends dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts into a full-body experience supporting strength, mobility, balance, mindfulness, and self-expression. Movements are simple, adaptable, and designed to meet you where you are.
In this Intro to Nia workshop, you’ll explore the history, philosophy, and foundational movements of Nia, guided by Sarit Sela, a First Degree Black Belt Nia instructor who has been teaching in Gainesville since 2011. Drawing from varied music and movement styles, Nia supports presence, emotional expression, and empowered self-healing.
This class is ideal for:
• Those new to Nia who want a welcoming introduction
• Seasoned Nia dancers who want to deepen their understanding
Expect guided choreography, moments of free movement, and a playful, inclusive environment where every body belongs. Nia is more than exercise—it can energize, release tension, and bring joy. Mostly, we like to have fun.
All ages, abilities, and fitness levels are welcome. No prior experience is necessary.
What to know:
• Barefoot practice
• Bring water and a mat
• Includes the 10 AM Nia class
