Learn about the endless possibilities and magic of creating color from plants and vegetable waste!
Using locally foraged plants, such as coastal sagebrush and eucalyptus bark, in addition that you can easily found kitchen waste, like avocado pits and onion skins, participants will be introduced to the basics of creating natural dye and ink.
In addition to learning the basic process of natural dye, we will also dye small pieces of various types of fabric and paper to be used for future artworks and collage.
Participants will take home:
- Recipe booklet to continue exploring natural dyes
- Fabric samples: Silk, Cotton, Linen, and Wool Yarn
- Paper samples: Cotton watercolor paper
Supplies:
Materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any scraps of fibers, plant or animal based, such as fabric scraps or paper, to play with!
Students are also encouraged to bring jars to take home dye.
- Saturday, September 11th from 10:00am-12:00pm
- Max 10 student occupancy
- Masks required
- All skill levels welcome
​- Outdoor painting space will be open in our private back lot
