Hello Friends! And just like that, we are on to our 2nd class of the year! Intro to Plant Medicine Series Pt. 2 - Salves, Oils and Poultices. While this class will build upon the skill-sets of Part 1 (Tinctures), you do not need to have attended that class to find this one useful.
This class will begin with a short hike (~1mi) along Thomas Creek Trail (N Timberline, Reno, NV) to collect buds from our native Black Cottonwood / Populus trichocarpa. During this time, we will also be doing some introductory plant ID with a focus on winter/dormant identification of our native edible and medicinal shrubs and trees. After this, we will meet at a location ~5mi down Mt. Rose near the intersection of Veterans and S. Virginia.
There, we will learn how to put together basic oil extractions and then how to utilize these oils to create salves and other commonly used toiletries (deodorants, lotions, etc). Each person will go home with their own tin of Black Cottonwood Salve (also known as Balm of Gilead) and with the knowledge to create their own topical medicines in the future!
This class will run from approximately 930am - 130pm. Cost is $40/person, however, as always; this is just a recommended donation. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please reach out if cost is a barrier.
Space will be limited to the first 15 participants! Registration link here - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdAKPuVr9hsqAZzrztth64knKCas-OSziqtQtg17YWoGezFMA/viewform?usp=preview
