This is our fundamental machine sewing course, designed for complete beginners or those who need a comprehensive refresher. In this class, you’ll gain strong foundational skills to set yourself up for success in your machine sewing practice. This course has been comprehensively designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need to begin your machine sewing journey, and our encouraging, knowledgeable instructors are here to help you succeed. The project for this class is to create a handmade “book” of different techniques and stitches for you to keep.You will learn:
--the parts of a sewing machine
--what tools you’ll need
--how to prepare the machine for sewing
--how to sew a straight seam
--different types of fabric and when to use them
--different stitches and when/how to use them
--how to fix mistakes
--sewing room safety
--how to give your project a professional finish

Sewing Machines: Sewing machines are available for use for an additional fee. If you’d like to use one of our machines, click here to add the machine rental listing to your cart. You’ll need to purchase both this listing and the machine rental listing in order to use one of our machines for the class.
Materials: All materials will be provided.
