About this Event
We’re teaming up with Team River Runner to offer a free two-part Introduction to Kayaking course for veterans. No experience is needed, and all equipment and instruction will be provided.
The first session takes place in a heated indoor pool on Wednesday, August 20 at Carmody Recreation Center in Lakewood from 5:45 PM to 8:45 PM. You’ll learn basic paddling techniques, how to safely exit a capsized kayak, and get fitted with gear.
The second session happens on Sunday, August 24 from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM on easy-moving water at River Run Park at Union Chutes, or another nearby location depending on flow. Final details will be shared closer to the date.
This program is limited to 8 veterans. Please note: You must attend the first pool session in order to participate in the river session.
