Intro to Improv

The Stage Left Theatre Company is hosting an “Intro to Improv” Workshop for those age 16 and up with instruction by Nathan Anderson and Logan Monson.

Nathan Anderson is a board member of the Stage Left Theatre Company and has been improvising his way through shows for 10 years, and improvised his way through life for 16 years prior to that. Nathan has been in multiple productions, both with Stage Left and at West Shore Community College. He has also written and directed pieces for Stage Left in the past.

Logan Monson, a Ludington native, is an actor, comedian, and alumnus of the Stage Left Theatre Company. He trained in improv at ‘The Comedy Project’ in Grand Rapids starting in 2019 and has been in multiple productions locally. Before moving to Detroit, Logan starred as ‘Wadsworth’ in West Shore Community College’s 2021 production of ‘CLUE’.

Since then Logan has integrated himself into the Metro-Detroit comedy scene, joining ‘Ants In The Hall’ in 2022 for a yearlong run where he helped to put on a “partially scripted, mostly improvised, & completely different” themed comedy show at Planet Ant on a weekly basis. Logan is currently cast in two separate house troupes in Metro Detroit where he plays with ‘DoubleClap’ at Planet Ant coached by Lauren Bickers, Mondays at 7:30pm (shameless plug) and ‘MYSTIC POINT’ at GO! Comedy Improv Theatre in their ‘Weekend Finale’ coached by Tess Hannah, Sundays at 7pm (even more shameless plug). ‘Ants In The Hall’ is still active with their latest project ‘BUTT ROCK: The Musical’ opening for one night only July 24th at GO! Comedy in Ferndale, MI (Okay okay, last plug I swear).

The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 10am-1pm at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts Performance Hall- 107 S. Harrison St. in Ludington. 

Cost for the workshop is $10 for Stage Left Theatre Company Members (those who have worked on a Stage Left production in the past) and for members of the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, and $25 for non-members. Stage Left Theatre Company Members should use promo code “companymember” and LACA members should use promo code “lacamember” at check out to receive the discounted ticket price. 

Participants must be age 16 or older to attend and the class is limited to 15 students. Registration will close on July 18th or when the 15 student limit is reached.
