About this Event
Welcome to our Saturday Workshop series at Clay Club. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre
This three-day workshop will allow you to hand-build a few (2-4) functional pieces. On day two, we will play with glaze layering and different glaze combinations. We will have a few different options of glazes to choose from. On day three, we will get together and discuss our glaze results and share what we like the most and what we could work on or change next time.
- Day One: November 1st- Hand-build 2-4 pieces
- Day Two: November 22nd- Play around with different glaze combinations
- Day Three: December 13th- Discussion of glaze results (What you like and what you would change next time).
- Materials, including pre-made pieces, coloured glazes, paintbrushes, and tools, will be provided.
- We will fire the pieces at the end of November (Expect to pick up your creations sometime in December).
What is Glaze Layering??
Glaze layering, in pottery, is a technique where multiple layers of different glazes are applied to a ceramic piece, one on top of the other, rather than mixing them together. This method allows for unique color interactions, depth, and visual texture on the fired piece. The order of application, thickness of layers, and the specific glaze properties all influence the final outcome.
