What will the course cover?

We will teach you all the essentials you need to begin your yoga journey so that you have the foundation and confidence to attend regular classes or begin a home-practice.


Who is it aimed at?

Beginners new to yoga. However students who have already practiced some yoga and want to deepen their understanding and refine their technique are also very welcome.

You will learn some key postures from each of the main groups including standing poses forward & back bends twists sun salutations and simple inversions. We will also look at the importance of alignment in all postures how to work towards experiencing ease and stability in your poses and the importance of the breath its effect on your practice and using it as a simple way to start meditating.

Tracy provides a casual and relaxed atmosphere to put you at ease in this new learning environment.


Course Curriculum:

Week one

  • Overview of yoga postures and introduction to some basic postures and movements such as child’s pose downward facing dog baby cobra cat/cow and basic sun salutations – half sun full sun A and Sun B and Chaturanga Dandasana. We will also cover simple meditation and breathing techniques and their benefits. Concluding with Savasana the final relaxation pose.

Week two

  • A focus on hip openers. We will cover the lunge positions Warrior I family of standing poses warrior II family and hip openers in balancing postures. Poses will include pyramid pose side angle pose reverse warrior high crescent lunge tree pose and pigeon pose.

Week three

  • Introduction to backbends and their preparations. We will focus on how to safely open the front body shoulders and quadriceps to prepare you to ease into heart opening postures. Asanas (postures) will include high cobra upward facing dog puppy pose half bridge sphinx dancer’s pose locust pose bow pose half bridge and full wheel. The class will end by looking at seated postures such as forward folds and twists.

Week four

  • For the final week we will bring everything we have covered so far into a full class practice with a special focus on core. After practice we have a chance to ask questions and guidance on where to go next with your yoga practice.

Bare Flyt Yoga provide all the necessary equipment - mat blocks bolsters blankets and straps but you are always welcome to bring your own. There is a shower available if needed.

Wear any clothes you feel comfortable moving your body in bring a bottle of water and something to take notes with.

About Tracy:

Tracy is a Canadian full time RYT 500 Yoga Alliance registered Vinyasa Yin Pre and Post-natal Restorative and Yoga Nidra teacher based in Oslo Norway.

Tracy specialize in alignment anatomy based Vinyasa. Her classes focus more on self-inquiry end-range engagement developing strength flexibility and holistic health than making specific shapes with one’s body. Tracy fundamentally believes yoga is for everybody and every body; her goal is to make yoga accessible and welcoming to all.

As a full time yoga teacher she currently teaches public studio classes courses privates corporates and events. Her approach balances challenging energizing practices with inward-focused breath based mindfulness.
