About this Event
Welcome to the Intro to Ecological Film Making Workshop!
This workshop offers an easy and experimental introduction for anyone interested in making moving-images responding to the natural world. The workshop provides an overview to non-fiction filmmaking (AKA creative documentaries), enthusing participants with the techniques to play with creative approaches towards documentation in their own lives. Through exploration of the moving-image, participants will learn how to move with their camera (phone cameras are completely fine for this) and how these images can come together into a short film. Sound is explored alongside the moving-image, with equipment provided for participants to play with sound recording and think about the role of sound in Ecological Filmmaking. The workshop begins with a short participatory lecture followed by individual time to play and practice the explored techniques, finally coming together to share work and reflect on the experience. Introduction to Ecological Filmmaking is for anyone interested in the more-than-human world and exploring how mediation through a camera can navigate and shape their place within it.
