About this Event
In this workshop our instructor mechanic will cover all the basics of getting your bike ready to roll for the season, and best practices for keeping it in good shape and running well. These sessions are meant to get participants comfortable ride checking and doing basic DIY repairs on their own bicycles.
Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to learn:
- The major systems that work together on your bike and bicycle anatomy
- Techniques for the ABC Quick Check (ABCQC) pre-ride safety checklist
- Observing wheel health and flat repair methods
- Brake checks including how to monitor braking surfaces/cables/housing for wear and recognizing when to service or replace them
- Parts of the drivetrain, and how to keep it clean and lubricated for optimal performance
- Ideal shifting and common derailleur adjustments including limit screws, cable tension, and troubleshooting typical shifting problems
