About this Event
Have fun and use fire to create your own glass beads in this introductory class! Working in the flameworking studio, we will melt colorful rods of glass at the torch to create beads. You'll learn how to add colors and use tools to create unique shapes and designs. We will also talk about how to make jewelry and other creative ways to use your beads.
What to expect: Flameworking with soft glass requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful sculptures. After demonstrations, expect to make between 2 - 6 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to middle school aged youth.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
Sliding-scale Pricing: We offer sliding-scale pricing options for youth classes in an effort to provide greater access to glass education for our growing community of young artists. Please self-select the pricing tier most appropriate for your financial situation. Families who are able to should select the higher tuition so that we can continue to offer our programs with ample staffing of expert teaching artists, and top quality glassmaking tools and materials in our state of the art studios.
