About this Event
Join Compass Point, home of Dirty Girl Adventures, for an informational class about backpacking. We will discuss the basics you need to transition from day hiking to backpacking. Our focus will be on safety, self-sufficiency, and minimal impact we'll cover the following topics:
1. Gear & Equipment
2. Backcountry Kitchen
3. Navigation & Trip Planning
4. Safety & Ethics
5. Clothing & Layering
We will also share suggestions for local trails that would provide a good first experience. Participants will leave with a good understanding of backpacking gear, backpacking tips, and safety, ranging from beginner to more advanced, including a basic gear list to take home.
The class will allow for questions and discussion.
Class time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Class Fee: $25
If you already have backpacking gear, feel free to pack it up and bring it. We'll weigh your pack and help you tweak your fit and packing.
