Are you a musical theatre lover looking for a new challenge? Do you dream of performing on stage or working behind the scenes? Look no further than The Sainsbury Singers!
We’re a friendly and talented group, dedicated to bringing the magic of musical theatre to life. With hit productions like The Addams Family, Made in Dagenham, Guys & Dolls and Sweeney Todd under our belt, we’re always looking for new members to join us on our next adventure.
Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to the stage, we welcome everyone to come along and see what’s involved. There are plenty of opportunities to participate behind the scenes too — whether it’s helping with props, costumes, makeup, or joining our backstage crew.
With two main musical shows a year, plus local concerts and social events, there’s something for everyone. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Wednesday evening in Southcote, Reading.
By joining the society you’ll be part of something truly special. Not only will you make new friends, but also hone your skills and create unforgettable memories. Simply come along to a rehearsal (or two) to get to know us!
ABOUT THE SHOW
Shrek The Musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone's favourite ogre to life on stage.
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.
Featuring a terrific score of 19 songs and a script with big laughs, Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

11 Nov: Production team welcome and show intro @ 7:30pm.
Throughout November: Pre-audition workshops, Auditions, Read-through and singing.
Weekly rehearsals start after the above.
11-13 May: Get-in, tech and dress run
14-17 May: Performances at The Hexagon, Reading.
