About the Tour
The Intracoastal Birding & Photography Charter is a four-hour, small-group boat tour focused on bird observation and photography within the Lake Worth Lagoon and Intracoastal Waterway. Operating entirely in calm, protected waters, this trip is designed to provide excellent opportunities for both viewing and photographing South Florida’s winter birdlife.
The route combines steady cruising with frequent stops at productive local locations, allowing time for observation and photography when conditions and wildlife behavior permit. Planned stops include the Lakeside and 9th Avenue docks, Bonefish Cove Natural Area, Snook Islands Natural Area, Tarpon Cove Natural Area, Manatee Lagoon, and Peanut Island, along with additional docks, shorelines, and mangrove edges encountered along the way.
These habitats regularly host wintering shorebirds, gulls, terns, herons, and egrets, often allowing for close and extended views. A restroom break is available at Peanut Island, providing a convenient midpoint stop before continuing to additional birding locations and returning to Bryant Park.
This tour is suitable for birders and photographers of all experience levels, from beginners to experienced participants.

About your Captain and Guide:
Marcus Kelly is a South Florida–based charter captain and lifelong birder whose experience on the water began at a young age. He spent many formative years navigating and exploring Florida’s most productive coastal ecosystems, including the Indian River Lagoon, Lake Worth Lagoon, Biscayne Bay, the Upper Keys, and the Gulf Stream waters off Palm Beach. These early experiences built a strong foundation in seamanship, local conditions, and seasonal wildlife movements that continue to shape his approach today.
Captain Kelly brings a careful, observation-focused mindset to every trip, emphasizing safety, ethical wildlife viewing and photography, and education. His background across both inshore and offshore environments allows him to adapt trips to conditions while maximizing opportunities for close, respectful views of seabirds, shorebirds, gulls, and terns. He is particularly interested in pelagic species and wintering coastal birds and enjoys sharing local knowledge with birders of all experience levels.
Palm Beach Pelagics was established in 2025 as a dedicated birding and nature-focused charter operation based in Palm Beach County, Florida. The company offers offshore pelagic trips as well as inshore and Intracoastal excursions designed to highlight the region’s exceptional avian diversity.
Palm Beach Pelagics works with individual birders, small groups, and conservation organizations to provide efficient, well-planned outings that balance productivity with enjoyment. Whether running offshore along Gulf Stream W**d lines or cruising calmer waters in local lagoons and natural areas, the mission is to deliver high-quality birding experiences grounded in local expertise, careful planning, and respect for the birds and habitats of South Florida.
