Intro to Acrylic Painting January 25 12-2pm

Class Description:
Subject Reference Photo: Massachusetts Roadside, November snow.
2 Hour class to paint a snow scene on an 10x8 inch canvas board. All materials, brushes, paint, 10x8 canvas board, reference photo copy, and step by step instruction will be provided to complete the painting as instructed.
The instructor will guide the students in how to compose the scene, how to draw the scene with paint, how to mix colors to add color and interest to the painting. The students will be shown various methods for applying paint, including old master techniques such as “scumbling” and “glazing” while using the modern medium of acrylic paint.
Students following the instructor’s directions should be able to accomplish a completed painting in the style shown within the 2 hour time period.

About your instructor:
David Dorrell’s artwork is a fusion of representational and expressionist styles. He enjoys using classical painting techniques to produce paintings infused with energetic color and brushwork, expressive light, and yet often contrasted with calm balanced compositions.
David Dorrell began painting at age 11 under the instruction of his grandfather, Ernest Dorrell (artist)
