Abstract: The Perseverance rover will search for ancient microbial life in Jezero Crater where an ancient alluvial fan is now the focus of attention. This lecture will describe Mars and outline some of the Australian scientific contributions.
Bio: Dr Vic Gostin has been researching, supervising and teaching geology and earth history since 1970. Identification of an extensive ejecta blanket derived from Australia’s largest meteorite impact (honoured by asteroid 3640 GOSTIN), has widened his attention to planetary geology.
