Upcoming Melbourne book launchInto the Mainstream: The Decline of Australian Communism
By Tom O’Lincoln
At the end of World War II, the Communist Party was a major force in Australian working class life. Yet by the 1980s it had diminished to a demoralised rump. This book traces the party's decline from an influential movement, plagued by its bureaucratic Stalinist politics, to a shrinking organisation finally drifting into the political mainstream.
This book is a reissue and includes a new introduction by Paddy Gibson.
The book launch will take place at lunchtime Sunday, April 20th and is part of the Marxism Conference in Melbourne.
Duncan Hart will give a talk on the history of the Australian Communist Party at 11:45am. For further information, check out https://www.marxismconference.org/
