On October 10th, NASA is set to launch the Europa Clipper spacecraft on a groundbreaking mission to explore Jupiter’s enigmatic moon, Europa. Covering a journey of 1.8 billion miles, this state-of-the-art robotic spacecraft will delve into Europa’s icy surface and the vast ocean hidden beneath. The mission aims to unravel the mysteries of Europa’s ice shell, subsurface ocean, and chemistry to assess whether this distant world possesses the right conditions to support life.Elaine Fortin will be speaking about this new mission at 7 PM to 8 PM on October 25.
Elaine is a Solar System Ambassador, a volunteer position through JPL, funded by NASA. She is a Trustee of the Adirondack Sky Center and Observatory, an amateur astronomer and former employee of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
