Intimate Apparel tells the poignant story of Esther, a 35-year-old seamstress in the early 1900s New York City. Set against the backdrop of Esther's dreams of opening a beauty parlor, the play explores themes of gender roles, race and the complexities of intimate relationships. Intimate Apparel invites audiences to relect on the persistent challenges faced by women, particularly women of color, in their pursuit of love and independence.
