Interwoven: Presence in the Wood Shop 2.0 Intermediate Woodworking
Special Operations Forces Service Members are invited to join Patrick Ryan, owner of Benevolent Design, and The Station Foundation for a two-day, intermediate woodworking intensive to explore the meditative benefits of craftsmanship. Participants will lean into the mindfulness principles of presence and focus while tapping into creativity. Woodworking provides many psychological and cognitive benefits including stress reduction, mood regulation, improved concentration and spatial skills, and normalizing brain chemistry.
Using the basics learned in the first woodworking workshop, Service Members will take their craftsmanship to the next level with a personal project they will appreciate. The 2.0 workshop will include advanced styles of joinery and assembly to create a catch all box. The first night of the workshop will require participants to mill, flatten, and prep the desired lumber that they will use to build their box. They will then use different joinery applications to assemble and construct each box.
On the second night of the workshop, service members will sand and prepare their piece for finish and apply a finishing agent to their completed box.
This two day workshop will be held on:

Monday, February 9 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Tuesday, February 10 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Event Details:

Participants must commit to attending both nights of the workshop.
Program Prerequisite: Presence in the Wood Shop Workshop 1
Closed toe shoes are required.
All tools and equipment will be provided.
Dinner will be served at 6 PM.
