About this Event
Interwoven: Mindfulness in the Outdoors (for SOF Families with Children 3-10)
The Station Foundation invites Special Operations Forces families with children ages 3–10 to enjoy an afternoon of outdoor exploration and connection at Owl Creek Landing.
Step away from screens and rediscover the joy of the outdoors through curiosity, imagination, and play. Interwoven: Mindfulness in the Outdoors offers SOF families an opportunity to slow down and experience the stress-relieving benefits of nature. The natural world provides a rich “playscape” that supports the well-being of both adults and children alike. With countless ways to practice mindfulness, nature gently invites us to be present and engaged in the moment.
Throughout the afternoon, families will take part in imaginative play and co-create an adventure tailored to their interests and needs. Owl Creek features a unique play area for children ages 3 and up, complete with four treehouses, zip swings, climbing nets, and slides. Families with children ages 7+ can explore Nautilus Tower and The Whorl Slide, the longest steel spiral slide in the U.S. The Tower’s spiral ramp rises eight stories high, offering a bird’s-eye view of the forest below. The Treetop Trail Canopy Walk includes a series of suspended bridges stretching 40 feet above the forest floor, while a half-mile ground trail invites families to discover native plants and wildlife.
No matter how your family chooses to explore, time spent together in nature will deepen connection, spark joy, and boost overall well-being.
