About this Event
Interwoven: Mindful Stained Glass
Special Operations Forces Spouses are invited to spend some time with The Station Foundation to experience stillness while working with glass. Join us for a 3-hour class where you will make a stained glass light catcher. Spouses will learn how to cut out the glass, grind, and foil for soldering. During the workshop, you will be working with glass-cutting tools and solder irons. Participants will go home with a finished stained glass light catcher to hang in your window or on your porch.
Art requires the presence of mind, and working with your hands creates a sense of calm. You will have a sense of accomplishment and good memories from your completed stained glass project. Exploring a unique art medium such as stained glass leaves participants rewarded with a feeling of accomplishment and pride in daring to try something new. Art requires the presence of mind, and working with your hands creates a sense of calm. The beautiful colors of the glass pieces are inviting and calming for the eyes. While we often mistakenly use technology as a mental escape, practicing mindfulness through creative expression is beneficial and healing.
“I consider myself a stained-glass window. And this is how I live my life. Closing no doors and covering no windows, I am the multi-colored glass with light filtering through me in many different shades. Allowing light to shed and fall into many, many hues. My job is not to direct anything but only to filter into many colors. My answer is destiny, and my guide is joy. And there you have me.”
