Interwoven: Flight Check - Couples Connection Event

Special Operations Forces Service Members and Spouses are invited to join The Station Foundation for an immersive and engaging 90-minute workshop designed for couples to strengthen their communication, teamwork, and adaptability—both in the air and on the ground. Experience the thrill of flying like never before.

As part of our “Flight Check” curriculum, each couple will take the controls of either a Boeing 737 or an F-16 flight simulator. Operated by Extreme Flight Simulation, the two connected F-16 and one 737 MAX include a full cockpit mock-up with working controls and switches. During your 30-minute simulator session, you’ll navigate mission-based challenges designed to test your communication and teamwork. Linked together for a shared mission, you'll navigate high-pressure scenarios that mirror real-life relationship dynamics, requiring trust, clear communication, and quick problem-solving. After the flight, a debrief will help you translate the experience into practical tools to strengthen your relationship.

Whether you're soaring or recalibrating, this workshop offers a unique and unforgettable way to reconnect, refocus, and re-engage—with each other and your shared goals. Research by relationship expert Dr. John Gottman shows that when you acknowledge and openly discuss positive aspects of your partner and your marriage, your bond is strengthened. We will practice this before and during our flight simulator activity.

Workshop Prerequisite - Hunting for the Good

In a journal or on a piece of paper, write down at least one positive comment about your spouse each day from August 10-20. Record these positive sentiments and things that you appreciate about their character and ways they demonstrate their love and support, etc. Do not share your lists with one another. You will bring this list to the event and share it privately with one another.

Event Details:

In keeping with The Station's virtues and protocol, this will be a dry event. Alcohol will not be served.
Appetizers will be served.
Please complete the prerequisite prior to the event and be open to active participation.
No experience is necessary.

Additionally, please note that childcare is not available for this event, and children may NOT attend. Thank you for respecting this policy, as it ensures a space free of distractions for the attendees.
