About this Event
Special Operation Forces Families are invited to join The Station Foundation for an evening of meaningful connection by the water. Fishing is a powerful way to create strong bonds, have meaningful conversation, and enjoy time in nature. Not only will participants learn a new craft, but families will be introduced to strength spotting- identifying the unique character strength within themselves and family members. Strength spotting enables a shift in family focus and attention from negative bias to positive sentiment override. Children and teenagers who have parents who help them identify and use their character strengths have greater confidence, persistence, life satisfaction, healthier friendships, and manage stressful situations with greater resilience.
This workshop is a hands-on learning experience for all, to include fishing on the center’s stocked ponds. Families will learn:
How to set up and cast a fishing rod
How to tie a basic fishing knot
How to catch a fish
Catch-and-Release fishing methods
How to properly handle a fish
ONLY ONE TICKET IS NEEDED PER FAMILY *
* Please note - you will be required to set up an account with Go Outdoors North Carolina. This information will be sent to you after signing up here.*
