About this Event
Interwoven brings together the work of three Ghanaian painters and a Chicago raised sculptor in a collective exploration of identity, memory, heritage, and human connection. Rooted in the definition of interwoven- "closely connected; blended together”, the exhibition examines the ways culture, ancestry, emotion, and personal experience are layered into who we are.
Across more than 50 works, the artists use color, texture, portraiture, abstraction, and form to reflect the threads that bind individuals to community, history, and self. Some pieces speak softly through repetition and rhythm, while others confront the viewer with intimate expressions of joy, vulnerability, resilience, and reflection. Together, the works create a visual dialogue between tradition and contemporary life, between personal narratives and collective memory.
From Ghana to Chicago, Interwoven highlights how stories can transcend geography while remaining deeply rooted in heritage. Each work stands on its own, yet gains deeper meaning in conversation with the others — much like the interconnected experiences that shape identity itself. The exhibition invites viewers to consider the invisible threads that connect people across generations, cultures, and emotions, reminding us that no story exists in isolation.
