And this description barely scratches the surface.Produced by Toei Animation and supervised by the legendary Leiji Matsumoto, Interstellar 5555 tells the story of a kidnapped blue-skinned extraterrestrial band who are disguised as humans and forced into a successful career as a pop band on earth before their rescue and attempt to regain their identities.
The film is wordless, using only stunning visuals and the music of Daft Punk – in particular the narrative thread of Discovery – to tell this wild tale of corporate control and the commodification of art vs musical freedom.
