About this Event
Our theme to celebrate IWD 2026 is Resistance Rising!
Time and again, resistance movements show that, however dark the day may be, the forces of war and destruction, oppression and dictate will not succeed in eliminating resistance. On International Women’s Day, we celebrate all the women in Canada and the world who are fighting for their rights, their dignity, and a future where all human beings can thrive. Women are in the front ranks of all these battles for their rights as workers, for health care and education, for housing and food security, for peace and the right of all nations and peoples to set their own course.
Following a delicious catered banquet, we will hear from women workers active in their unions, fighting for the rights of migrant workers, for Indigenous rights, for the rights of the Palestinian people, climate activists and more.
We look forward to hearing everyone's views and sharing a delicious meal together! Hosted by Women for Rights and Empowerment.
International Women’s Day, March 8th, is a day established by and for women in the front ranks of all movements of the working class and people who are fighting for rights.
The annual IWD banquet hosted by Women for Rights and Empowerment has become a treasured event where we inform each other, celebrate our resistance, strengthen our commitment to be there for each other, and affirm our claims as women to have a say in all the affairs of society and to build a better world.
