About this Event
****This is a women-identifying only hike****
DESCRIPTION:
For this adventure, we will be heading tothe San Gabriel Mountains to bag our first peak for the SIX-PACK OF PEAKS Challenge by summiting Strawberry Peak. Measuring 6,164 feet tall, Strawberry Peak is taller than other surrounding mountains like Josephine Peak, Mount Lawlor, and Mount Wilson. A hike to the summit from Red Box Picnic Area on Angeles Crest Highway is 7.5 miles round trip with 1,510 feet of elevation change. The first 2.5 miles are gradual on a nicely built trail that was re-established after the Station Fire scorched this area in 2009. When you hit Lawlor Saddle, a rougher 1.25-mile long path ascends the final 950 feet on a steep and undulating ridge to the top of the mountain. The second leg of the hike is a butt-kicker, but the summit-bagging panoramas are worth the effort. This trail is rated hard.
This trail is an 7.5-mile "out-and-back" with roughly 1771 feet of elevation gain. It is rated HARD. There are no reliable water sources on this trail as we will be ascending away from the valley, so please plan on carrying your full day supply of water with you.
WAY OUT WILD DIFFICULTY RATINGS:
E (Easy) - Suitable for anyone who enjoys walking. Mostly level or with slight incline. Generally less than 4 miles.

H (HARD) - This is a strenuous hike that will challenge most hikers. The hike will be longer and steeper AND is deemed strenuous because of elevation gain. Generally 7 to 11 miles.
