International Women’s Day: Celebrating Inclusivity and Bodily AutonomyDate: March 8th, 2025
Location: Fallen Alders Hall - 3595 Royston Rd, Royston, BC V9N 9P9
Time: 2:00 - 5:00 PM
"I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own." — Audre Lorde
The Comox Valley Transition Society in collaboration with the Comox Valley Meditation Collective, invites you to join us for a powerful and inclusive celebration of International Women’s Day. Together, we will honor the diverse experiences of all women. This event is a space for connection, empowerment, and advocacy, embracing the strength of inclusivity and the fundamental right to bodily autonomy. Let us celebrate the wisdom and power of the fierce women who have paved the way for the rights we have today.
This space is transgender and gender non-conforming inclusive, fostering a welcoming and affirming environment for all who celebrate womanhood in its many forms. While we respect diverse perspectives, we ask that all attendees align with the values of inclusivity and respect for bodily autonomy.
The event is wheelchair accessible. If anyone requires additional accommodations, please reach out.
What to Expect:
During the first 45 minutes, live musical performances will inspire you as you enter the space. During the performances there will be time for you to engage with vendors, local non-profits, admire artwork, and enjoy the music of Maddie Lynn and Christine Fletcher.
For the next 30 minutes, inspiring guest speakers will take the stage to share their wisdom and lived experiences.
Lastly, DJ Exclamation HeART will guide us through a meditative, 45 minute ecstatic dance journey. She will curate a blend of powerful music, spoken word, and mantras, all created by women. This will likely be an emotional, yet empowering journey for dancers, or those that wish to sit and listen.
Sacred Space for the Divine Feminine. During the DJ set, we invite cisgender men to step outside to allow women, non binary, and gender non conforming folks to fully immerse themselves in this moment of shared connection. This request is not about exclusion but about creating a space where we can tap into our divine feminine energy together. The set will be released publicly afterward for everyone to enjoy.
We will end the event with a closing circle, where participants are welcome to share a short sentiment about their experience.
