The Detroit Bikes Cycling Group will once again host this year's Ride of Silence, Detroit event. This year's event is the 23nd Anniversary of The International Ride of Silence, which began in 2003. The ride is held annually on the 3rd Wednesday in May.In accordance with the International Ride of Silence policies, we ride silently during this event to:
1) Honor our fellow cyclists who have been injured or killed;
2) to Raise Awareness that we as cyclists are here;
3) and to remind other road users that all share the roads.
The ride is conducted in silence. We don't talk, use bells or whistles (except in cases of emergency), play music, or otherwise create any noise other than the noise of our bikes. It's a spiritual, meditative event, similar to a funeral procession. On this day, we ride as one group.
Helmets are required.
Length: Approximately 8 miles (13 kilometres).
Pace: Relaxed, between 10 and 12 mph (16 to 20 kph)
Meet-up location: Tech Town parking lot, Amsterdam between Woodward and Cass

Finally, please arrive in plenty of time for a brief ceremony at 7:00 PM (19:00 hours). We will leave shortly after. We expect to return the TechTown lot no later than 8:30 PM (20:30 hours).
Additional:
The 313 Ambassadors will once again serve as Ride Support for our event. In addition, the Wayne State University Police Department will assist us in making this a safe and meaningful event. #RideofSilence2024 #RideofSilenceDetroit2024
