Join us for International Red Tent day Friday 8th November at New Brighton Beach (south side of the pier) any time from 3:30pm.
Bring your dinner and a blanket.
We will have a song circle -bring your drum if you have one.
We'll have a discussion around finding your tribe and creating the world we want for our children's children.
This is a free event, but please register so we can plan for your arrival.
We welcome all people to come and sit and share with us.
Of course, tamariki are welcome too!!
We will be creating some very special sand art with Aiyanna from Sandscribers:
"We will gather and draw a giant circle In the sand, representing oneness and inclusion. Within the circle we will recreate the Red Tent goddess and outside that circle we will create a mandala, an expression of love. I believe we are all creative souls and have a message to share with the world. I hold sacred space of play in love and joy, where there are no mistakes or judgement.
Children are most welcome to come and create as well with us.
Everyone's creations are equally valued.
Please bring a rake if you have one or if you have a staff please bring that if you wish. It's a powerful tool to draw with and connect even more with.
Sticks are useful. I have some spare rakes however if you can, please come with something for everyone you bring, to take part with.
I'm really looking forward to this co-creation.
Trust the weather will be fine, we will be gifted the perfect conditions to create our sand magic piece and have our gathering.
Feel free to picture a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine on the 8th and all the fun, laughter and connection we will have."
About International Red Tent day:
The Red Tent Revolution is here!
Are you feeling the awakening?
Only 27 short years ago the words ‘Red Tent’ were associated with nothing but camping.
In 1997 Anita Diamant’s book came out and women all over the globe were touched by 'Dinah', a hardly significant character in the Bible (book of Genesis) who brings to life the women in her biblical tribe as they gather monthly in the Red Tent.
And now, there are thousands of women who gather in Red Tents every month all over the world!
We also call the Red Tent a “Women’s Circle,” as it is a place for women to meet, share and heal together.
Deanna Lam, founder of Red Tents In Every Neighbourhood founded International Red Tent Day in Mexico City to bring more awareness to this work. The Red Tent Temple Movement, and Isadora Leidenfrost traveled for two years around the United States to film women in Red Tents. She produced a deeply moving documentary called ‘Things We Don’t Talk About: Women’s Stories From the Red Tent‘, which brought the Red Tent vision to thousands of women who watched it worldwide including Jill Natalia, who birthed Red Tent Australia in 2013 and went on to open 72 branches across Australia.
Then she birthed Red Tent Aotearoa in 2020....

About the Red Tent Aotearoa movement: What women want is CONNECTION.
Not on a superficial level, but REAL connection and support.
The Red Tent is a place for women to feel that connection and to offer and receive that support.
We want to help women to free themselves from the isolation of today’s modern world and find their tribe.
Red Tent Aotearoa has the aim to connect, collaborate, and create a community of strong and educated women in a supportive & nurturing environment.
We establish community networks and support between women by hosting local gatherings, and events in what we call “Red Tents.”
Red Tent Aotearoa is not religious, and we invite anyone who identifies as female from 11 years + from all walks of life.
It’s our hope for everyone who enters each Red Tent to experience a sense of belonging, sisterhood, and strength that stays with them from then on.

FAQ:
What is the Red Tent and what do you do there?
Red Tents are spaces created by women, for women to come each month and share their stories, relax, feel nurtured, seen, and heard.
There is nothing required of you, the main goal is for you to relax, recharge and reset. Each month at Red Tent Aotearoa is different, we invite a different woman each month to share her experience and interest with us so that we all can learn and become more confident.
Some of our themes in the past have been; The Power of Pleasure, The Power of Identity, The Power of the Spoken Word, The Power of Positive Touch, The Power of Humility.
Our belief is that 'Power-with' instead of 'Power-over' will change the world.
Who is the host and why does she do this?
Jill Genet is the Founder of Red Tent Aotearoa and Red Tent Australia. She is a Holistic Counsellor and Business Mentor with Conscious Consulting NZ. Born in Ōtauhtahi, she left when she was 18 and returned 28 years later in 2020.
Jill is a community-focused change-maker with a devotion to non-profit organisations and a passion for non-violent communication.
She has dedicated the last 12 years of her life to starting, growing, and sharing Red Tent Australia and now Red Tent Aotearoa as an organisation that helps start and support the birthing of Red Tent circles all over the country.
Jill believes in the power of Red Tent circles to heal the women of the world and in doing so the ripple effect will be felt across the globe.
What do I bring?
Please bring a snack to share, a blanket or chairs to sit on and some warm clothes.
Bring an open heart and a longing for connection.
