We are very excited to be celebrating International Museum Day on Saturday, May 18 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. We will be firing up the 1916 Empire Steam Donkey, one of the few operational donkeys on the coast. Along with the Steam Donkey, we'll be serving up Boiler Coffee, that coffee-so-thick-you-could-walk-on-it brew with a slice of delicious pie.
We will also be hosting guided tours of the Soyokaze, the Japanese cod fishing boat which is the only boat known to be reunited with its Japanese owner after the Internment of Japanese Nationalists in Canada during WW II.
The Richard Calver Art Auction will also be in full swing during this time so stop in and see the unique talents of this Quadra artist. Campbell River Art Gallery curator Jenelle Pasiechnik, will be on hand to offer a lecture on the work and life of Richard at 2:00pm. A great opportunity to dive deep into his work.
The Museum will be FREE all day and it will be a great day to pack a lunch and watch the steam donkey roll up to steam on the grass at the Museum.
