Special Guests: Featuring Mayor of Eastbourne Councillor Candy Vaughan, Councillor Jimmy Murray, and Chair Ian Elgie and Deputy Chair Mozmil Hussain Ian of the UNA Eastbourne, Film Director Leesa Gazi along with distinguished members from our vibrant Bangladeshi community.
Event Highlights & Programme:
4.00 pm: Lights Switch-On Ceremony: Join us for a special lighting of the Eastbourne Town Hall as a beacon of hope, unity,and celebration.
4.15 pm: Keynote Speeches: Inspiring addresses that honor the triumph of Bangladesh’s journey to independence and the ongoing importance of universal human rights, followed by the Bangladesh national anthem
4.30 pm: Screening of “Silent Raising”: A powerful awards winning documenary that embodies the enduring struggle for peace and human rights around the world, with Q&A with the film director Leesa Gazi after the screening (the film will be screened at the Town Hall Court Room)
6.00 pm: Bangladesh Food Buffet at the “Bombay Avenue” Restaurant on 18 Grove Rd, Eastbourne BN21 4TR
This celebration reminds us of the principles set forth in the UN Charter on Human Rights and the ongoing journey to ensure these rights are fully realized worldwide. Let’s come together in solidarity to champion a world where dignity and rights are protected for all.
