Introduction into a worldwide treasure hunt.Across the globe are millions of geocaches in over 100 countries across all seven continents. Placed and sought after by a community of treasure hunters.
This activity mixes the use of GPS technology with the exploration of nature. From urban environments to city, state and national parks, to the far-off back country. Once the area is discovered, geocachers will have to use clues and investigative skills to locate where the cache is hidden. Fun for the family, groups or solo.
Join Ranger John at the Nature Center to learn about geocaching. You will learn what it is and basics of it. Find out what you should pack with you. And then go on a private course in the park to practice. Afterwards, you are on your own to explore the park for public geocaches and begin your quest.
Ranger John will assist with the first find, then the private course is self-driven. Participants will be sent out in rounds, you can show up at any time during the program. Dress for the weather and activity as there is some hiking, less than 2 miles. Bring water. The first three caches are accessible, after that there will be hills and trails.
