A Gathering of Folk High School Practitioners from Around the Globe!This summer, folk high school practitioners from around the world are invited to gather at the International People’s College (IPC) in Elsinore, Denmark. Hosted in partnership with Menneske Først, this event aims to foster solidarity among educators, strengthen the global Folk High School movement, and collaboratively shape future initiatives to sustain and expand the international Folk High School community.
The five-day program, running from July 14–18, 2025, will feature dialogical learning sessions, networking opportunities, excursions to key cultural and educational sites such as Vartov Culture House and local Folk High Schools.
Open to practitioners at all experience levels, the gathering will focus on those already familiar with the Danish Folk High School tradition and the philosophy of its founder, N.F.S. Grundtvig. Attendees will both teach and learn together as they collaboratively explore ways to sustain and expand the global Folk High School community. Key outcomes will include enhancing communication networks, appointing regional ambassadors to strengthen local connections, and coordinating online and offline initiatives. The event will also hopefully lay the groundwork for a new international Folk High School short course, set to launch in 2026.
