About this Event
As the world accelerates its transition to renewable energy, long-duration energy storage (LDES) is becoming an important technology to ensure grid stability, energy security and achieve carbon neutrality. Among them, flow batteries stand out among many energy storage technologies due to their scalability, long life and efficient energy storage capacity.
Compared with lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries (vanadium flow, zinc-bromine, iron-chromium, organic flow batteries, etc.) have significant advantages in long-duration energy storage applications due to their intrinsic safety and other characteristics. In 2024, China's new installed capacity will be about 0.43GW/1.74GWh, with a market size of about 3.8 billion yuan. ASIACHEM Consulting predicts that the global flow battery market size will grow from 1 billion USD in 2025 to 5 billion USD in 2030, with an average annual compound growth rate of about 38%. China will occupy an important position in the world in both technology and market application.
However, flow batteries still face challenges such as cost, scale and standardization. To break through the "involution" of the market, it is necessary to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation and make breakthroughs in market, technology and policy support.
International Flow Battery Long-Duration Energy Storage Conference (IFBC) 2025 will be held in Shanghai on May 22-23. The conference will be jointly hosted by ASIACHEM and Shanghai Electric Energy Storage Technology, bringing together global academic, industrial, policy and market experts to discuss the technological breakthroughs, challenges, commercialization paths and market opportunities of flow batteries.
