Hello Everyone!
We are incredibly excited to announce the return of one of the most anticipated events of the year: International Day!
First and foremost, we would like to state that there is ZERO tolerance of harassment/disrespect/abuse towards anyone from any country. This event is purely for experiencing the cuisine of other cultures and having a great time:)
This year, International Day be held on Wednesday, April 3rd.
We at the ISC are looking forward to this year’s games and festivities, and we hope you are too! Here’s a look at our timeline for the upcoming weeks, as well as a quick explanation on what this event is about.
As a quick reminder, make sure to respond to the event to follow along with any updates, as they will all be posted here.
TIMELINE:
March 9: Voting for Bos/Bovina Major champions opens, Table sign-ups open
March 16: Voting for champions closes.
March 22: Table-sign ups close.
March 29: Videos for each champion/team are DUE, (More info to come about the videos later, keep an eye on the event page).
April 3: International Day!
VOTING for CHAMPIONS:
Every year we have the competition for the coveted title of Bos Major/Bovina Major! Along with the title, the victor will be crowned with the symbol of victory, the highly coveted Horns!
Each class (International program: first through fifth years, as well as the first and second year German program) will choose ONE champion each to represent them, for a total of 7 different champions competing for the title on the day of the games. The competition will test mental and physical ability, and of course, the ability to consume (and hold down) a considerable amount of alcohol;)
Each chosen champion from each year will then assemble a team of 4 other students from their class to compete against the other teams, to gain the most points by the end of the competition. The teams will also need to create a 5-10 minute video showcasing their crew and champion—be sure to include as many professors and staff in your video as possible!
If you think you have what it takes, or if you know someone from your class who has a shot at being crowned the grand champion, nominate them in the polls on your class’s Facebook page!
Voting is open NOW and will remain open for one week, so you have a little bit of time to decide if you want to compete (but not too much time, you still need to get the most votes!)
NATIONALITY/COUNTRY TABLES:
The park in the center of the university will be lined up and down with tables, where groups of students from the same home country can get together and showcase the best food, drink, etc. their country has to offer. Start communicating with other students from your home country.
IMPORTANT: Please choose ONE representative from each country to reach out to us at the ISC, otherwise our contact person will get flooded with too much information and messages!
Once you have gotten together and chosen your representatives, please contact the ISC page on Facebook with the following information:
1) The nationality/country you will represent
2) Would you like 1 or 2 (joined) tables? (2 max)
3) Will you want electricity? (limited spaces)
4) Contact information for the representative/whoever will be at the table during the event (We need to be able to contact you with any information or updates in the event that some changes occur)
